2023 In Review

As we move into 2024, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2023, the projects we worked on and the clients we worked with.  You made 2023 a year filled with creativity, joy and a little sweat! Thank you to all our clients, vendors and trade professionals.

Thank you to our clients who trusted us to build and transform their homes, update their dining rooms, and make their kitchen nooks more functional.  Thank you.  It is always humbling and energizing to be invited into your homes for months and weeks at a time as we work to create your dream space.

To our vendors who continuously create beautiful products for our client’s homes and help us solve our design challenges, thank you for partnering with us.

To our trade professionals who diligently work with integrity,  answering the calls and fulfilling projects and last-minute requests.  Thank you!

Design and renovation work is creative and fluid — it is where the left and right sides of my brain meet – creating beauty and functionality within space.  We are led by the numbers in these projects: cubic feet, length, width, pattern repeat, and budgets.  With numbers on the brain, let’s review some of our numbers from 2023.

Eight Home Renovations—

Re-imagined and created customized floor plans for the first and second floors.  We understood our client’s objectives to design and build functional and beautiful spaces within their existing home.  Removed, repositioned and rebuilt walls, floors, ceilings and rooms to create modern, usable and beautiful home plans.  Oversaw all contracting work.

Three Interior Design & Re-imagine Projects

Custom paint consultation to refresh a client’s sad and dated first floor. Painted cabinets, walls, and ceiling – breathing new energy into the home.  In the Chicago suburbs, we helped a busy family of 6 add colorful, layered interiors and textures to create a “POW!” living room and dining room experience.  Designed full office interior for a leading and fantastic communications firm.

Five Kitchen Renovations—

Worked with original Farm Houses, Bungalows and everything in between to create custom kitchens for families, couples and single parents.   We took weird and old-school floor plans (along with teeny-tiny/barbie dream house size counter space) and maneuvered underutilized spaces in the house (closets, hallways and storage rooms) to increase the size and functionality of the hub of their home, the kitchen.

Three Non-Profit, Design & Remodel Projects—

We worked with one of our favorite non-profits on several projects.  We designed an addition for their office that serves as the welcome area for clients and volunteers. We remodeled their community kitchen to serve guests' needs better and designed a custom ‘grocery store’ (food pantry) to help community members shop with dignity.

Five Primary En Suite Renovations—

The sanctuary for our clients! Expanded closet space and/or on-suite bathroom by totally reworking under-utilized space and odd original design.  Created new floor plans, layouts and custom interiors to create dreamy, sleep-worthy rooms.

Three Bathroom Renovations—

We redid Powder Rooms and Primary Bathrooms to create elevated, functional (and sometimes cheeky) spaces.  We love creating bathrooms that have personality and use tile to create art.  A little bit of the “Wow” factor in a place, people spend more time than they think.  Bathrooms do not need to be boring! (Black Earth, Green Valley, 69th Street)

Two Lower level Renovations —

Consulted with families to design and finish basements. Working with blank slates allowed us to understand how these spaces would be used (entertaining, a place for kids, game rooms, and teen lairs), and we developed custom layouts, designs, and interiors.

Wowza! We will continue to geek out over some of our projects from 2023. We love them and want to show them off a bit. We also have so many exciting projects and updates coming for 2024! We cannot wait to share them with you. Stay tuned!

And the New Year is a great time to start planning for your 2024 design projects. We are ready and excited to work with you. Call or email to chat.
